Anyone selling online will know how important Google is in driving visitors to their website, but how much do you know about the other ways that Google can help your business?

Here are 6 other ways that we are helping clients bring more traffic, and understand how people are using their websites:

1) Google Adwords

Probably the best known of Google's commercial services, Adwords are the 'sponsored links' you see in Google's search results. Also known as Pay-Per-Click or PPC adverts as you only pay when someone clicks and visits your site.

If you are having difficlty getting your site ranked above your competitors in the search results, an adwords campaign can quickly bring more traffic to your website, and if managed correctly it needn't cost a fortune.

2) Google Analytics

This is by far the best free website reporting tool on the market. Find ourt which sites your visitors came from, find out what words they used to find you in Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other serach engines, find out how many turned away from your site without seeing more than one page, and muchmore besides.

3) Google Local Business Centre

If your business has an office or shop that people are likely to visit, or if many of your customers are local, then register your business address with Google and you'll start to appear for searches on Google maps that include local place names. e.g. indian restaurants in subiton.

4) Google Base

Google Base has taken over from what used to be known as Froogle, Google's answer to Kelkoo. A huge database of products from onine retailers.

For example, this search for Black 60 GB ipods in Google brings back 3 product results. Click on the words Product search results for black ipod 60GB and find even more sellers.

Google Base just needs a file of your products, that you can prepare in Excel, then over time they start to give shoppers the chance to review your service, so it's not all about being cheapest.

5) Google Checkout

Introduced in 2007, Google now offers a similar checkout service to Paypal. Use this alongside your Google Adwords and you'll get free payment processing for your online orders.

6) Google Webmaster Tools

One for the techies. Google Webmaster tools gives valuable information on how your site is performing in the search engines.

Create sitemaps so Google knows about all your site's pages, get feedback on problem pages, discover badly written meta-tags, and even see which searches on Google are showing your site but not getting you any clicks. Definitely worth asking your developer about if you are struggling to get many visitors from Google.

We hope the tips above are useful in bringing more visitors to your site. If you'd like to hire Shine Marketing to put any of these services in plac on your website, then drop us a line today.
